Set of stamps
A set of stamps can be 2 or more stamps released on the same date. Usually they depict a same subject.
In the example shown there are three sets of four stamps each on various subjects. All the four stamps have different denominations.
In the earlier days, set of stamps was issued in various denominations from the lowest value to the highest value. King Ed VII set is illustrated here depicting 29 different stamps from 3 pies to 25 Rs. issued over a period from 1902 to 1911. In country Collections this forms a set.
The denomination is decided based on the postage rate prevailent at the time of issue of the stamps and to cater to various types of postage services.
